Calculi: Swollen submaxillary glands are inflammatory in nature for the most part and usually attributed to calculi.  Submax carcinoma is one of rarest of salivary gland tumor sites.  One must differentiate if these are salivary glands or lymph gland involvement but lymph glands bilat would also be rare and mostly one sided in submaxillary region.

Out of Context: No. Not in and of itself. Are you HIV positive? Do you not take your medications to keep your  immune system strong? Poor dental health is not in any way a symptom of early HIV infection.
