Costochondritis: Is a medical term for what people in general think of as muscle/joint strain/pain in the chest wall or rib areas. Anything that causes chest to expand a lot, such as prolonged cough(bronchitis), upper body wgt lifting, swimming, among other activities, can cause costochondritis.Hiv isn't a direct cause, but may weaken one's immune system, so that one may get a lung infection that strains chest muscles.
