HCG: HCG injections usually trigger ovulation.  It should not delay your period (although it is possible), or it could be implantation bleeding.  Make sure to take a pregnancy test if your period is late.

Hcg: Yes HCG administration can delay the menstrual cycle depending on when it is given.  Hcg is the hormone made by the placenta that maintains the corpus luteum, which then makes estrogen and Progesterone to maintain a pregnancy.  So if a HCG injection is given in the late luteal phase it can delay a menstrual cycle.

No: If you think you may be pregnant get a home test kit. Antibiotics will not do this.

Did you have sex?: Conception, as defined by the generation of a fertilized ovum, occurs within day or so of the sex. However, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.

Yes: HCG can cause elevation of estrogen and breakthrough bleeding. This generally is not a problem and generally not a cause to stop the HCG (unless bleeding is heavy or of a long duration). It should always be discussed with the provider that is following you.

Can retest in 10days: Today's home pregnancy tests are very accurate, but if done too early, a negative result may be due to testing too soon. A correctly done urine test will give a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. A woman can repeat the test if she did the first test too early, such as less than two or three weeks after having sex.

Studies of women who: ...had recent miscarriages have found that they can ovulate &amp; conceive during their next cycle even if they still have (+) blood tests for HCG.  This suggests that HCG does NOT interfere with spontaneous ovulation.  However, without knowing more about you, I can't advise you on the timing of sexual intercourse or IUI.  It's a good question! Ovulation: I assume that you are needing this fertility medications because you do not ovulate consistently. If you are not ovulating then one does not expect to have regular predictable menstrual cycles therefore it is not possible to predict when the next cycle will come. The next step is to contact the fertility specialist and begin planning the next treatment cycle.

Pregnancy test: Menstrual type bleeding after ovulation induction suggest that the attempt to conceive failed. A pregnancy done as early as now should indicate, whether there is a pregnancy or not.
