can cat litter hurt babies?

Not really: Cat litter is usually clay.  It is not good to eat it, but is not harmful.  The worst part would be the cat poop or possibly parasites from the cat.  Many children have eaten cat litter without any problems.  If the baby develops vomiting, abdominal pain or diarrhea, then have tests done for an infection from the litter.

we got our home professional painted with water based paint (sw cashmere) it still smelled strong when i was down to check it out after they finished. i became nauseous and headache. have i dont harm to baby at 20 weeks? i had about 20 min exposure.

Not usually harmful: Water based paint is a respiratory irritant. While it may cause nausea and headaches, a short exposure such as yours should not be harmful to your 20 week pregnancy. A more urgent problem may be the old paint that was originally on the wall as many of these contained lead. Make sure you were not exposed to dust from wall refinishing. If you were, consult your Dr for lead testing.

No, not if she: continues to get adequate fluids, nutrition and rest,  and avoids alcohol and other drugs which are sometimes used inappropriately to relieve tension. Depression is not uncommon, so that if her symptoms continue, please speak to her OB about this, as an Rx may be indicated.

Not if minor: Youre asking a theoretical question. Fetal well being can be checked by ultrasound / biophysical profile if you are worried that a recent exposure to electricity caused any harm.

good afternoon dr am 18 weeks pregnant and usually use hairdryer dry my private part to avoid any infection.usually i do everyday 5-8 mins can it cause harm but today i feelhigh temperature in my private area.can it cause harm to baby or air embolism?

: This sort of thing does not prevent infections of any kind. For sure you must not place the opening at your vagina, i.e. to inflate your vagina with air, cold or hot. That could indeed be damaging; never do it. If it feels good to blow warm air over your genital area, that's fine -- but perhaps not on a high heat setting. But don't fool yourself; it doesn't improve genital health in any way.

Yes you can: Toxoplasmosis can be transmitted via cat feces, and from undercooked, exposed meat.  The parasite can be carried as a cyst within the brain. It can induce the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase necessary to make the neurotransmitter dopamine. Cat & pregnancy: The reason the cat litter can be bad is because of the potential transmission of toxoplasmosis, an infectious disease that can result in miscarriage. Yes, cats can be carriers. Simply having a cat while pregnant is not likely to give you toxoplasmosis. You could get it by coming in contact with infected cat feces. But humans most commonly contract toxoplasmosis by eating undercooked meat.

Can't exclude possib: Cat litter contains cat droppings which harbor oocytes of toxoplasma gondii.  These take about 7 -10 days to mature to an infective form for humans.  Usually you get the disease by contaminating your hands and transferring the organism to your mouth by swallowing food, etc.  Certainly not impossible to inhale and swallow organisms but not sure how one would prove this.

Stress: is negative for the mother but not directly negative to the  baby. If the the stress is causing lack of sleep or poor eating habits, then it could affect the baby.

Spotting can be common in the first trimester, but should still be checked out.

Thanks for asking!: Its too common to have a problem of constipation in pregnancy so plan proper diet  more Cellulose   cerials, bananas, icecreamcones. Make habit of drinking warm water -two glasses  first thing in morning when wake up plus repeat  by 10am. Also yogurt, green vegetables etc and very safe  bowel laxative-once in a while is ok   like collace- try to aim for soft stool    baby can't be seriously harmed.
