No: Neither usual stress nor dehydration will lead to abnormally low WBC count.

Not usually: Dehydration causes your urine to be more concentrated so it appears a deeper yellow. If the dehydration is severe and a person's blood pressure is low, it can cause acute renal (kidney) insufficiencies. As a response there may be " debris" in the urine, due to sloughing off of kidney cells due to a lack of blood flow  or ischemia.

can wbc change due to dehydration? i had a cmp and cbc months ago. i was dehydrated, so some results for cmp were high (e.g., sodium) but normal for cbc. now i took them again and everything is within notmal range. wbc is normal too but a lot lower?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, do not fret about minor variations.

had a recent cbc. wbc 9.9. rbc 5.49. my platelet count was 253 (140-400). dr. said i may be was a little dehydrated cause hard to find a vein. does dehydration affect platelet count a lot? what would my platelet count be if i was better hydrated?

Not much different: In theory dehydration would elevate the count. In practice you would not be more than 5% dry or they would treat you for dehydration. That level would not alter the numbers significantly.

34 y/o female. ca level 11.5, vit d. 20. 4 mos ago, pth was 14 and ca 10.1. haven't felt well for months. could high calcium be a fluke (dehydration)?

I would be most: suspicious of the low vitamin D level. The PTH (normal range considered to be 10-65 pg/ml or ng/L) seems to be about right for the modestly elevated initial calcium level. But if that calcium level was really the result of dehydration (which could be the explanation) then a PTH of 14 is a little low and hypoparathyroidism might be considered.Consider further investigation and vitamin D supplement

ORS: Most children with dehydration can be treated with the so called oral rehydration solutions (ORS), which is basically water with the correct balance of sugar and salt. In the US, Pedialyte is the most common brand used, but there are other brands. Make sure your child drinks enough of the ORS to keep herself/himself hydrated (at least half the number of wet diapers that you are accustomed to).

i have read so many websites saying to avoid tomatoes and citrus, but eat pickles and vinegar for dehydration. isn't vinegar acidic?

Yes: It is acidic. Pickles are made by placing cucumbers in brine or a salt solution. It's the salt that's used to help you hold onto water.

What condition?: If you are suffering extreme thirst, definitely check your blood sugar to rule out diabetes. A visit to your physician is in order.  We certainly need more details about your past history of syncope to give more advice here.  But in general, a low blood pressure and history of syncope would not cause extreme thirst!

Dehydration ???: People with significant dehydration are given IV fluids to avoid organ shutdown (in or outpatient). If you are keeping down enough fluid value to urinate every 8-12 hours &amp; have no other physical signs of dehydration outpatient efforts are the standard. Small volumes every few minutes don't trigger the stomach spasm that causes vomiting.

Causes of high WBC's: Causes of high wbc's in the blood include:  infections, drug reactions, bone marrow disorders, immune system disorders, etc...  Examples of such disorders include:  acute or chronic leukemia, severe allergies, viral or bacterial infections, rheumatoid arthritis, severe emotional stress, severe physical stress, tissue damage or injuries such as burns, etc.. Keeping a diary can help sort things out.
