i have a cotinine test this saturday. i smoke last sunday. i quitted in november but occasionally smoke. i am on nicotine gum 2mg. will it show.

Likely: Cotinine is a metabolite of nicotine and any source of nicotine, including gum could provide a positive urine test for cotnine.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i currently quit smoking on chantix due to surgery. i was told my blood test would still show cotinine because of the chantix, is this true?

Nope: Chantix  does not contain nicotine or any nicotine like products so it would not cause your Cotinine levels to rise.  It also does not affect the pharmacokinetics (the way nicotine is handled by the body) so the nicotine would be excreted from your body normally. Congratulations on quitting smoking!  It is the best thing you could do for your lungs/health!!!

Chantix won't show.: Chantix is an entirely different chemical that is prescribed to aid in smoking or tobacco use cessation. The chemicals nicotine and the metabolite of nicotine known as continine should only be found in the event of active tobacco use. Continine can remain in the system even after nicotine has cleared out, how long it persists in the body depends upon how much tobacco is used and for how long.

By not smoking: If you smoke, however they do the test (blood, urine or oral fluids), it will be positive.  Ways to "beat" drug-testing mostly don't work, are detectable by current systems and make it worse for you.  If you are a smoker, you are responsible for the consequences of your smoking. Helping you avoid consequences is NOT helping you. Get help quitting tobacco.
