No: Despite what some grandmothers will say, cereal feeding has not been proven to help babies sleep better.  It can lead to constipation or overfeeding, though, and possibly food allergies if given prior to 4 months.

Sleep training: She needs sleep training. Do not play with her when she wakes up. Keep the lights dim/off & talk softly @ night letting her know it is not time to play. Also make sure that she is on a sleep schedule w 1-2 naps in the daytime. The last nap should not be near bedtime. Enlist the help of dad to do this, talk to pcp for more specific advice.

Yes: Back in the 90's data emerged to show belly sleeping lead to increased risk of crib death. Now decades later we have seen a decline in crib death rates among families that back sleep their babies by ~40%. Side sleeping was found to be as bad as belly sleeping in several studies.

Rice baby food: Rice does not caue baby to sleep.But babies after they are fed with cereals or another solid food and milk will tend to fall asleep, but it is not due to effect of rice itself.

Start out that way: Though sometimes hard, delivery is the natural point to separate baby from mom in some wakeful & all sleep intervals. Parents can create a restful area for babies crib & enlist audible or visual monitors if worried.Babies are capable of learning to self settle in sleep almost immediately & will do so unless a parent insists on rocking or holding until asleep.

Sleep consolidation : Through self-regulation occurs between 1-4 mos. If there has been a consistent bedtime & bedtime routine ( rocking, reading, feeding, wiping out baby's mouth with a soft cloth after the last feed)  & baby is put  in his own bed in his own room, drowsy, but awake. Allow him 5 min. To self-calm if he awakens. At 6 mos. Old, your going in & making eye contact will create a " trained night crier.".

Yes: Few things can tire you out more as a new parent than a baby who does not sleep well. While there is no magic cure for sleep, advice on ways to improve it are available. Good parenting: You cannot stay awake 24 hours a day to watch your baby.  You can remember to lay the baby on his or her back when putting to bed.  Make sure blankets are not too excessive or fluffy, and be careful of the quality of bedding.  Good ventiliation in the bedroom and a normal temperature is also important- not too hot or too cold.
