my husband and i have been itching like crazy for awhile now. i have blisters on my hands. my 10-month-old has a rash and dry skin everywhere and a slight itch. weve tried scabies, lotion, eczema cream, psoriasis treatment, etc and nothing works.

: The itch of scabies is a reaction to the poop they deposit under the skin in their burrows. That itch will persist long after they are all dead. In time (days/weeks) the skin sheds this debris and returns to normal. Scrubbing the areas can help reduce the constant stimulation by residual materials. A re-check to look for new active burrows may be worthwhile.

i may have contracted scabies from work, i have been using a shampoo w/tea tree oil in it , showered with it and put tee tree 5% oil in lotion and put all over my body from scalp down..is tea tree oil effective treatment, and how often should i do it?

Scabies and Skin: Many doctors say that, "as anxiety increases, your specific anxiety symptom increases---your skin sensations become more severe". It's a vicious cycle: when you're afraid of the skin crawling sensation occurring, your mind obsesses, and you end up feeling the skin crawling sensation again. It may be a symptom of your anxiety of having scabies.

if 5% permethrin cream has not worked 4x/6 wks, what is the next step to get rid of possible scabies. env & fam treated. treatment was done correctly.

Scabies: Permethrin treatment needs to be repeated one week after the initial treatment.  There are oral treatments for scabies, like ivermectin.  However, the itch of scabies can last up to 6 weeks after proper treatment.  As long as you are not seeing new lesions, the scabies is treated and the itch will eventually resolve.  A cortisone cream can help with itching but not on days using permethrin.

Allergy: You may be having a contact dermatitis or an allergic reaction to the cream.  Would discontinue this and if the rash persists, go show it to a dermatologist.  Since cannot see this over the internet, cannot imagine accurately diagnosing it.

hi! can i use clobetasol propionate creame in combination with premetherin cream for treatment of scabies? i am miserable!

Scabies Treatment: It is best to follow the treatment as prescribed, using the Premetherin Cream directly on the skin to eradicate the Scabies Mite. You can take an oral antihistamine for the itching, or use topical anti-itch preparations after completion of your treatment course.

Scabies: News flash: in almost all cases the over the counter treatment, rid, is no longer strong enough to treat scabies.  You must get the more concentrated version by prescription or get on the newer pills that treat scabies.
