More time: You may need to give the medications more time to work. You may still be able to transmit the infection to a partner for 7 days after treatment as well, so you should not expect to be well after 2 days.

they found s. heamolyticus in urine. how dangerous is this? what are the symptoms? dr gave me azythromicin. is this enough?

Bacteria in urine: Is not enough to conclude that there is an infection.  Most urinary infections are benign.  The treatment prescribed will probably be enough.  If symptoms persist the culture can be used to select an antibiotic with activity against the micro-organism found in your urine.  Those tests take time and most of the times are not needed.

Uti: ZIthromax is not effective in treating urinary tract infections and one dose of claforan (cefotaxime) May or may not be. Three wbcs per hpf is not significant, but the important test to rule in or out a urinary tract infection is a urine culture and colony count of a clean catch specimen.

would azithromycin give a false positive for cocaine on a urine drug test?

Accepted Answer

Not a problem: Generally members of the penicillin family of antibiotics and especially Amoxicillin may falsely produce a urine drug test positive for cocaine. Azithromycin is in a different antibiotic structural class and is not known to produce this false positive result.

Get a culture: Maybe bug was resistant.That combo should have cleared most bugs.

Not likely: If you have / re-contracted these, after a week, likely will be positive.

i was recently given ceftriaxone (shot), azithromycin (pill) and flagyl (pill) as pre-exposure preventative therapy. is dark urine a side effect?

Accepted Answer

Nope: None of these drugs is a likely cause of dark urine; no worries there, but contact the doctor or clinic where you were treated. Obviously you were considered at risk for STDs. These drugs will prevent gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, and trichomonas, but not viral STDs like HIV,  herpes, hepatitis B, and HPV. Be sure to follow up as directed by the doctor or clinic. i recently had covid and dr.did blood work. liver function are normal. my b12 was elevated at 1389. also i used a urine dipstick test and it showed slightly elevated bilirubin. i was on azithromycin for pneumoina. could that have damaged my liver?

: Those findings are common during acute infection, you have nothing to worry.

Blood in urine ?: Although azithromycin/ceftriaxone may be sufficient for most strains of gonorrhea, with blood in the urine, the treatment may not have cured the infection:  obtain another culture with sensitivity testing to make certain you have adequate antibiotic treatment.
