You can learn: hypnosis and lose weight to reduce the pain, however, if you have a herniated disc it will continue to cause pain until you are able to have an operation to fix the disc. Consult with a back specialist but in the meantime, learn hypnosis from a qualified clinical psychologist.

i have a herniated disc at c6c7 pinching a nerve causing cervical radiculopathy down my arm. will the pain and numbness go away suddenly or gradually?

Gradually: A special pillow for sleeping, maybe with mild sedation. Avoid shoulder straps or holding a phone with your shoulder up to your ear. Heat and relaxation exercises. Get up from your desk frequently and walk around.

herniated disc l5-s1. pain increased over a few months, improved but after starting gym again, became acute. i have been resting 2 months now and improving slowly. can walk 5 min before pain. should i just wait longer? is it likely to just go away ?

You have options: Would consider an evaluation and maybe lumbar epidural corticosteroid injection. Clarity will help

If it is only: bruising it should go away in 2-3 weeks, but given your diabetes and obesity, perhaps a bit longer.

Good Question: If it was recent you have to wait until swelling goes down.  Everyone heals at a different rate and some never get rid of the numbness but there are treatments and medication to take like neurontin (gabapentin). Talk to your spinal surgeon.

Neck/sh problems: The symptoms could be improved with treatments such as physical therapy. Herniated discs sometimes may decrease in size over time. The arthritis and stenosis may not go away, but more often, the symptoms including those of the shoulder could improve over time and with various treatments.

i've seen two doctors, one said i need a microdiscectomy the other said i shouldn't have one & to have radio frequency ablation. dr steven simon responded that it should go away in weeks, but it's been over year.  dr suggested rfa because he feels the disc has calcified and surgery should be avoid due to damaging the nerves, this true? i'm in pain & it's affecting sex drive, appetite, bowel movements, my over all quality of life. diff in 2 procedures?

Neurosurgery: We can not cross- reference your previous posting.  I would not rely on information from doctors who really don't know you on such an important issue.  I think in your situation, what you are asking for is a "second opinion" and in your case it is actually a "third opinion".  You haven't told us what type of doctors who spoke with. Neurosurgeons are the gold standard when it comes to disc's.

Possibly: If the herniation is acute (just happened) a common course is that these issues resolve on their own within 6-8 weeks. Often physical therapy and anti-inflammatories are important in the healing process. If the pain does not resolve with these conservative measures or is accompanied by lower extremity weakness/numbness you should seek the care of an expert as soon as possible.

Not quickly : A herniated disc may shrink with time. But it's the inflammation that it causes which produces the leg pain. Once that inflammation subsides usually the pain does too. However, if their is a lot of pressure you can get leg weakness and numbness. If this is also causing bowel or bladder problems it becomes an emergency to treat. As far as time for a disc to go away, it can take a long time.

Yes it does!: Lots of people live not knowing they have 1. Also if some1 has pain and 1 is found, pain attributed to it. Surgery doesn't  always helpi have patients who  got rid of even foot drops with yoga and or rehab.
Pain is just your body telling you you are doing something wrong, and at that point it is often reversible if you listen. 
Yes it cd go away, but what you really need is have it silent.
