: Never heard of that. More likely you have a kidney stone forming problem.
Discus with your Dr.  Hot dry weather increases risk of stone and gravel formation because one may be more dehydrated and the stone forming material in the concentrated urine and when the concentration exceeds the saturation index stuff precipitates out. Keep better hydrated when hot may decrease stone formation.

No: Blood in urine is acute urinary tract infection, tuberculosis or malignancy until proven otherwise.  There are other less frequent causes, but Azithromycin is not likely one of them.

Stool contamination: Normally there are no lactobacilli  in  the urine. If there are low levels in a stool sample that could be due to antibiotics. If you are eating 6 servings of organic fresh vegetables and 1 apple a  day and  eating a little yogurt each day you should have good bacteria in your GI tract.  Cystectomy is very unusual at age 13. Dilitation and curettage could introduce stool bacteria into urine.

i have never gotten utis, but this past year i get them almost every other month. only symptom is strong smelling urine. culture comes back negative, but antibiotics cure the smell. what could be cause them to reoccur ?

: The culture of organisms from infected urine is not 100% accurate, and the methods to preserve culture speciments as well as the possibility of anaerobic organisms which specimens are not adequately protected from oxygen exposure, can contribute to "negative" cultures.  There are other causes for strong smelling urine, like dehydration, when there is no infection.

was prescribed bactrim ds 800 twice daily for 5 days for a uti, currently on 3rd day. would this antibiotic cause cloudy urine?

: No it would not. Cloudy urine from time to time is entirely normal, not cause by infection or medications. Usually it is related to food and fluid intake, causing phosphate crystals in the urine. Try adding a few drops of acid (like vinegar or lemon juice) to a urine sample; if phosphates, the urine will instantaneously become clear.

hi doctor i have this tinkling feeling while urinating,more like a sexual feeling, it's very discomforting what might be the cause? any possible antibiotics that i can take to stop the feeling?

Accepted Answer

: You should not use antibiotic if there is no evidence of urinary tract infection. You should increase fluid intake 50% for a couple days as a trial. If symptom persists or get worse, then see your doctor for a formal urinalysis. If there is no infection, then you can try azo (phenazopyridine), an OTC drug, which can alleviate the urinary feeling, for a couple days. Urine has red color with this.

i used a body powder in my groin area that was very irritating. it left painful "burns." 3 days later, i have horrible urethra pain after i urinate and constant urgency. will an antibiotic help? did the powder get inside me and cause this pain?

: No it is not from the powder.  Start drinking plenty of water and take azo . If not better in 24 hrs pl see a doc or Urologist for you will need a urine check and treatment. Hope you do well. apply cortisone oint ment to the groin area.

There are many cause: Drinking a good amount of fluid is helpful. There are many causes of urinary tract infections. A visit with your physician will answer your questions and help you decrease the incidence of infections.

two weeks ago i was diagnosed with dysuria and std. urine culture, vdrl, urine c/e came out ok. i'm taking antibiotics from 1 week with uropin tablet but still my sometimes come and go, no permanent relief. what is the reason behind this?

Accepted Answer

: You were given Uroprin just for symptom relief because urine culture was negative. If STD is strongly suspected, you need to be treated with antibiotic(s) especially if urinalysis is positive (pyruria is present).
