i was told 2 have ct w/ barium due to calcified vein in pelvis .radiology in reg. xray said unidentified ideology. any risks if i dont do the ct ?

Vascular problems: You'll be denying your providers and yourself some possibly important information regarding how to treat your vascular problem. Blockages in veins are not good and might result in some seriously threatening events - like stroke, etc. It's also important to see why blood calcium is high. Why not find out about these things? Consider it practice for Tx decisions. I hope it goes well - be strong!

45 f. ive had a total of 7 radiology tests within the past year (ct and x-ray)for various health issues. concerned about radiation exposure and cancer now? suppose to get mammogram and another ct this year, scared to have them done. should i cancel?

: Not knowing all your history &amp; clinical findings, I don't think we could advise you to skip those tests. There are no guidelines of how many CT scans one should have in their lifetime. I do know that it is more of a concern for children who are at risk for other cancers later in life. I'm confident that your physicians feel the benefits of the testing recommended outweigh any risks.

should i get checked for scoliosis if i have uneven shoulders and hips?

: Absolutely!  One of the first things we look at when we diagnose scoliosis is unevenness of shoulders. At your age it may be a bit late to do anything, but still worth getting it checked out.

my hip was replaced and i think my leg is not the right length. when i stand seem to stand on one leg most of the time. how do i get this checked out.

See details: It is easy to measure leg lengths. Google how to do it. Also, when lying down the bones on the inside of your ankles should be directly across from each other.

Yes : I would have it looked at, it may happen again and there may be something todo to prevent it.

Probably not: If it's completely asymptomatic, there's no need to go to the doctor.

If concerned: Get it checked if concerned but usually if it does not hurt it does not need to be treated. If it is painful in any way it should be checked.

i am a diabetic, osteoporous, arthritic and have had a hip replacement. i have been told to get an ra test done. myhands hurt and go numb and the numbness may last from20 seconds to an hour. what might be the cause of it?

2 major causes: The 2 most likely causes are cervical spondylitis (pinched nerve in neck from arthritic spurs or ruptured disk) or diabetic peripheral neuropathy. An MRI and/or nerve conduction study will distinguish the 2 conditions. Treatments are different.

i fell and hip my forehead 3 days ago, its black and blue and my eyelids are red, im not having symptoms of a concussion, do i need to get checked?

Possibly: Blood vessels around the eye are @ risk for rupture w/ falls or other injuries especially as we get older and the vessels are more 'friable' ( more easily injured from because they are less resilient). Probably a good idea to be. ' checked ' by your pcp to make sure no bony injury or other has occurred... Best of luck!
