LASER OF PROSTATE : It will likely be temporary. Voiding on a schedule with avoidance of dietary irritants like coffee, tea and soda will help. Drinking lots of water will also help.

Hopefully: Green laser should remove obstructing prostatic tissue so the bladder can empty more easily, this in turn should correct the urinary retention.

: If the urinary retention isn't caused by prostate or bladder outlet obstruction, I'm unsure what type of bladder surgery could relieve chronic urinary retention. I've had such patients who had to self catheterize three times daily to avoid constant indwelling foley catheter use. Of course, your urologist can answer your question best.

Difficult problem: If recent there may still be recovery, the first step in treatment is a good evaluation, usually with urodynamic studies to determine if it is truly a weak bladder vs a persistent obstruction. If the bladder is weak, but he can void and does not experience repeat infections then it may be best to do nothing beyond behavioral strategies. The only real treatment is a catheter, preferably self-cath.

See remark: There are bladder slings that help in  male incontinence
following prostate surgery...but the results are not as good as when placing slings in female incontinence

Here are some...: Kegel exercise may help regain the strength &amp; function of urinary sphincter but not the sole factor for restoring it; age, health, and resultant scar &amp; injury to the sphincter together play an important role in the post-op u-incontinence. So, seek professional evaluation and counseling timely for individual details timely.

hi dr.  i recently had a bladder sling surgery with my own skin.  i am still fatigue and hurting.  i'm 10 weeks post op.  is this normal?

Not normal: Pain 10 weeks after your surgery is not normal and you should notify the surgeon who performed the procedure

i would like to get second opinion on my fatigue and chronic sweating condition after surgery from fixing biliary leak and subsequent peritonitis from gall bladder removal. happened 16/03/2015. been treating symptoms waiting for improvement but none.

Reasonable: In most cases it is very reasonable to ask for a 2nd opinion. In the first instance you should approach your GP with this request. The assessment for these symptoms is somewhat involved and will require plenty of background information + a physical examination. If your GP is unwilling to refer you then you are entitled to ask for a 2nd GP opinion.

: A report of "under distended bladder is just a notation that the bladder was not full at the time of the CT.  It has no other implications.
