i have a really bad overbite that just needs to be fixed medically. my orthodontist said it could be fixed with braces but now shes saying that shell pull my impacted teeth out. but theyre cute and never cause any problems. can i just fix bite?

Not a color issue: It is not likely that an orthodontist would have all that much concern about the color of your teeth as much as the issues of their basic health status such as periodontal disease or decay.
Ortho is mostly concerned about correcting mis aligned teeth and correcting bite problems.

Generally, no: You are typically referred back to your general dentist for any cleanings and restorative or esthetic follow-up.

Force: Teeth move by responding to a light, constant force. This is because the bone remodels by losing itself to make space for the tooth to move into, and filling in more in the space where the tooth moved out of.  Very small implants may be placed as an anchoring device to move teeth also.  Any pushing or pulling creates force, and that is how  teeth move to more ideal position.

do the orthodontists adjust the retainer to fix ur teeth if they move after your braces are off?

Yes: For minor movements and corrections the retainers can be adjusted, depending on the type of retainer used, wire and plate kind or the clear type. If the teeth have moved a lot, a recorrective phase of treatment might be required. Please do not wait for your condition to get worse and see your orthodontist as soon as possible and if you have moved , ask him to recommend someone in your area.

Communication: You'll have to discuss this w your orthodontist.  Usually teeth are optimally aligned by orthodontist before general dentist does final restorations.  Communicate your concerns to both your gp and your orthodontist before starting treatment.

hello orthodontists, i got my braces on a month ago and got my wire replaced a week ago and i noticed that i can move my wire from left to right, the wire isnt on all of the brackets since im getting teeth removed, should i get it checked/fixed?

: So you have a specialist that you are trusting to provide you with leading edge care, but you are contacting us to provide an answer sight unseen. Counterproductive. Ate this point in treatment your Orthodontist wants teeth to slide along the wires. By all means call your Orthodontists office and report your concerns. You are paying for that service.

Not usually: Not part of their normal treatment. Also, best time is after treatment, as part of the tooth is covered with the bracket during treatment. You do need a good cleaning before braces are placed.

Yes: The earlier your doctor can get ahold of your canines, the more control (s)he will have over their position.  We often uncover canines so that we can attach brackets ASAP.

can i get braces even though i am missing 6 teet one orthodontist i had a consultation with said that there were not enough existing teeth.

Accepted Answer

Second opinion: Please get a second opinion from another orthodontist. In cases where many teeth are missing, implants can be placed to help as anchors for the forces needed to move the teeth.
