NO: They do not  'come and go' , lipoma is a slow growing , benign tumor of fat tissue, once develop will not disappear , unless removed, rarely they can turn to malignant liposarcoma.

Lipoma: A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty lump that's most often situated between your skin and the underlying muscle layer. Often a lipoma is easy to identify because it moves readily with slight finger pressure. It's doughy to touch and usually not tender. You may have more than one lipoma. Lipomas can occur at any age, but they're most often detected during middle age.

No: Lipomas are benign fatty tumors. They really don't do any harm but can be removed surgically for cosmetic reasons. They also should be removed if they are large (>10cm) or located inside a muscle since these lipomas are more likely to be or become cancerous. Small lipomas can also be removed by liposuction but that is not recommended for lipomas removed because of a risk of cancer.

i have a posttraumatic lipoma located on my  back that i would like to have removed. how do i go about this?  would lipo work?

Lipomas: Lipomas are usually removed with simple excision.  That means we cut it out.  Depending on the size, this can be done with local anesthesia or local and sedation.  This is usually an outpatient procedure.  In some cases the lipoma can come back.  This will require a final surgery to remove the remnant that recurred.  Usually that is the final surgery.

Not true : I would only remove the larger ones or those causing pain. You probably have a propensity to form them. They will not grow faster if you remove them but you likely will always grow more.
