Yes: The implants are made of material which does not elicit an inflammatory reaction and is not attacked by the immune system.  They will last longer than you will.  That is not to say other problems can occur in the eye, such as macular degeneration or glaucoma, for example, which can effect the vision.

No: Lens implants are made of plastic which does not interact with your immune system.  There are other conditions in the eye which may have set up an inflammation in your eye (uveitis) but the origination is not the lens implant.

Tricky: Lens implants develop very strong attachments to the internal eye structures so removal is somewhat risky especially if a long time has passed since the original surgery.  Replacement is considered for malposition, or very unusual refractive problems both conditions in which the risk might be worth it.  This can be discussed with the ophthalmologist who inserted the lenses originally.

Yes and no: Multifocal lens implants always have a small degree of soft focus to them, precisely because part of the image from distance and part of the image from near overlap on the focal point in the retina.  The brain, however, is the greatest image processor on the planet and will learn, or nero-adapt, to make the clearest image possible out of what it has to work with. Yes, after about 6 months, better.

None: If some one gets cataract surgery then he/she will need lens implant to replace the natural lens that developed into cataract.   The lens made of inert material that is not allergenic or immunogenic therefore it does not cause any reaction.

Not really: Cataract develops secondary to the advancement of age, trauma or some medications.  You can help to delay it but there is no real cure for it.  Uv protective glasses, avoiding trauma to the eye or certain medication and use of antioxidant can help to delay progression.

Essential to surgery: A cataract is your own lens that has become cloudy. It needs to be replaced with an artificial lens during surgery. 
Lenses have been around for 50 years. They are very safe and will last the rest of your life. Some newer models can treat astigmatism and presybopia (need for reading glasses).

Yes.: A secondary intraocular implant iis effective, but with all surgical procedures there are risks and benefits.  This should be discussed thoroughly with your ophthalmologist before you proceed.
