You can, but...: It's better not to strain the eyes if you don't have to.  Don't stare at the screen for too long, take frequent breaks, and use sterile lubricating tears. Cheers!

Accepted Answer

No: Using your eyes will not change your glasses prescription.  Eyes slowly change shape over time but the causes for this are undetermined.  There is no relationship between activities using the eyes (like reading, using the computer and so forth) and the type or amount of change.

Accepted Answer

Yes: If you are constantly looking at a fixed  near distance - like a computer your eye muscles may undergo spasm and you may develop induced nearsightedness. Thats why every 20 minutes of close work look at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds. My 20/20/20 rule. :-).

No: Using the injured eye will not harm it.  However most people find that keeping the eye closed is more comfortable.

Poor health: Numerous studies have linked prolonged sitting/inactivity with poor health risks such as diabetes, or death from heart disease and stroke.  A recent study published 7/10/12 showed that prolonged sitting > 3 hrs/day will lessen your life expectancy by 2 years.

Glare: You can purchase anti-glare covers for your computer screen if the light bothers you. Be sure that there is ambient light so that the screen light isn’t the sole light source as this can be irritating as well. Some people use blue tinted glasses, but a screen cover seems a better option to me. Good luck

Get one more: "piece" of TECHNOLOGY...an EXERCISE SMART WATCH!!
FITBIT, APPLE, SAMSUNG all have models which will encourage you to LEAVE your computer etc and MOVE...you can even join a "self help" group with the same "step" program (PUN INTENDED)

The best place to start addressing it would be through his pediatrician that might be aware of local resources, such as support groups and/or counseling.

There : There is not enough information provided to provide a helpful response.  Are you a daily drinker?  How much do you drink each day & of what?  How old? Has your ability to tolerate alcohol dropped recently?  I am answering 16 hours later, do you still feel the same or are your symptoms worse or better? Do have illnesses involving your liver or GI tract?
