No: Herpes lesions can look many ways, but not generally as you describe.  They can be excoriations that are very painful, or they may be little fluid filled lesions that rupture.  They also may be shallow ulcers where the superficial skin has been eaten away by the virus (and these lesions are painful for sure).

If you aren't sure, see your doc and they will probably know just by looking.

Lip lesion: Herpetic lesions tend to be painful.  Also, a cold sore is usually what is seen, not a whitehead.  See your doctor if you are worried.

Not when healing: Herpes lesions generally go from red bump to superficial blister to pimple-like (with pus) to open sore to scab, and then healing, all over a total period of 7-14 days (up to 21 days for the first outbreak). In moist areas (e.g. vulva) ulcers develop earlier and persist longer. So a pimple-like (whitehead) appearance can be present early in an outbreak, but not likely "in the healing process".

Only: Only if it gets secondarily infected by bacteria.

Unlikely: It is unlikely that your pimples on your penis were herpes if they weren't painful. To know for sure you should have herpes antibody testing or, better yet,have herpes cultures done if they recur. The antibodies will only tell you if you have had the herpes virus but not where the infection is. Hope this helps.

??????: May or may not be. Herpes is usually painful with a few grouped vesicles but an inflammation of the base of a hair follicle may present like this.

Acne: Herpes is painful and the fluid is clear. Herpes lesions are single. You owe it to yourself to manage your acne. If topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you in two weeks, get with your family physician.

Pimple: Whiteheads are typically pimples while herpes infections are like blisters (with fluid inside) that become crusty and yellow.

Penile lesions: These may be sebaceous cysts, but can be molluscum contagiosum, a sexually transmitted viral infection, or possibly a variety of other minor conditions. They are most likely whiteheads or cysts.  They are generally normal anatomical variants which will not produce long term damage. Show them to your pcp and they can refer you to dermatologist if needed..
