i have dry eye and on restasis for a while & good results  i do 2-3 drops per eye 2x a day. just realized its 1drop. did i do damage? am scared.

Accepted Answer

Not really: Just use it one drop twice a day.  In order to avoid eye drop medicine into your system just pinch the inner corners of your eyes after application for a few mins.  This will enable you to block tear drainage system from your eye to your nose then to the system.

i am thinking about lasik but i'm concerned about the dry eye horror stories. shall i get on restasis and punctal plugs pre-op?

No: First of all, it is not likely that you will get dry eyes with lasik.  If you are among the few who do, then there are very effective treatments for it.   Don't let the fear of an infrequent and easily treated problem keep you from having your laser procedure. 

If you have dry eye symptoms, you should start treatment before you have lasik.

use of eye drops-restasis. i've got dry eye and my doc said dispose after use since it will be contaminated. i want to know if i can reuse after 8hrs.

Protect tip: When you put the first drop in, don't touch the tip to the eye and put the cap back on (or protect the tip).  Then you can use it again without problems.

Artificial tears: You can use artificial tears long term. Most formulations are found in over-the-counter sections and are safe. Restasis appears to be effective and can be used for long period of time, but i would try to go off of it, say, after 3 months to see if the function restores on its own.

Dry eyes : Canagliflozin or Invokana is  for:
Treating type 2 diabetes in certain patients. It is used along with diet and exercise. Dry eyes is not a common side effect. Most adverse effects are Genito urinary ( your physician can explain to you ). Restasis is not for immediate cure. Should be used for 3 to six months to assess its benefit.  Lotemax (loteprednol) for inflammation from Restasis You use lubricants too

It sounds as if it may have been prescribed to help with the pain and inflammation of arthritis. Call your prescribing physician's office to confirm.

Restasis: Has a powerful anti inflammation medication in it, cendo lyteers as far as i can find does not. Restasis is the best treatment for long term control of dry eyes.

There are many: Refresh pm is a good night time ointment.  Refresh or systane are good drops for the day.

why do my eyes feel so dry with restasis in them?

Different dry eye: Restasis only treats the part of dry eye due to inflammation and helps you to make more of the aqueous part of the tears.  Tears are complex and have three main layers, a watery or aqueous part, a lipid or oily part and a mucous or protein part.  These have to work together to relieve dry eyes.  Often the oily laryer is too thin, so the tears evaporate quickly, leading to dry spots, dry feeling.

Maybe: Restasis hasbeen shown to improve tear film but can take weeks or months to work.  Punctal plugs often work quicker and are more effective in this scenario.
