Other reason: You are on torsemide and spironolactone, and those are not likely to cause the hyponatremia. Thiazide-type diuretics can typically cause hyponatremia. The most likely cause in someone with cirrhosis and what sounds like heart failure is likely those. Thus, the treatment would be geared toward those. Unfortunately in the US, tolvaptan would not be an option due to cirrhosis. Can fluid restrict.

i drink plenty of fluids and do not take any diuretic medication. my rbc, hemoglobin, hematocrit and creatinine are consistently high. my blood sodium is consistently low normal. what conditions can cause chronic hypovolemia?

: You maybe dehydrated from sweating a lot.  How many hours you have been up and out of  bed standing and walking may affect all of these measurements. The longer you have been up the higher they become for about 4 hours. Due to water moving from legs etc overnight and then moves back during day when up and about

No: Please read my earlier post to you. More info: the measured serum sodium is not an absolute, total body sodium measurement. It's a concentration. With cirrhosis, there is more excess water than excess sodium (but sodium is in EXCESS),  so the number appears low - because it's diluted. If you take extra salt, it will only appear as swelling: in your legs and tummy.

just got labs back. renal panel ran due to bp med hydrochloathiazide. shocker sodium low at 131 and chloride low at 88, calcium 10.3 guessing the diuretic is the problem. waiting on doc callback. feel fine otherwise.  any advice?

HCTZ: Is notorious of causing hyponatremia. Other causes for hyponatremia in your case cannot be ruled out and your doc will be best to further comment on your results and come up with a plan.

Shortness of breath: Many reasons for someone to get out of breath. Debility &amp; frailty are common causes as we age. Congestive heart failure can do so too. Family Doc or Cardiologist might suggest taking more/stronger water pill but it's important that he take certain cocktail of drugs deemed standard of care. Sodium bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) is often used in kidney failure which could also lead to shortness of breath. See your doc

Too little salt can dehydrate.
