Diuretic: Yes. Diuretics remove excess fluid from the body and causes weight loss. Please be aware diuretics should not be used primarily for weight reduction.

Kind of...: Only if the weight gain is from medical conditions (usually organ dysfunctions) that lead to excessive salt and fluid retention. If used inappropriately for body weight loss, they could lead to potentially life threatening electrolyte disorders.
