what is the difference between muscle spasms and muscle cramps? i have cervical spondylosis and i call it spasms. accurate?

No: You are referring to 3 different diagnoses, tho they are related. Muscles spasms are intermittent as in on and off.  A cramp is unrelenting that is constant w/o intermittent relief. Both can be caused by spondylosis, which is a type of dislocation of the vertebra in the spine, putting strain and tension on ligaments and tendons, which leads to the mucsular pain. Yes: Anti-inflamatory medications, physical therapy and bracing can help alleviate the symptoms but not necessarily cure the problem. Often have to resort to surgery when all else fails.

Spondylosis is a : Term referring to the natural aging process of the spine that does not necessarily lead to any  symptoms while spondylitis refers to an inflammatory condition causing pain with  associated degenerative changes occuring as a result of that inflammation which can be from multiple causes.

However, x-rays, CT scans or MRI scans can provide a visual confirmation and can pin down the level(s) of the spine that are affected. This is particularly important if any surgical treatment is necessary.

Spondylosis is seen on xrays or MRI as degeneration of the discs or joints of the spine.  It is often not painful but certainly can be. It is more common to see spondylosis as we age.
