Obesity and teens: It can have a dramatic effect on a teenager. I see many teens, as young as 13 years of age who are morbidly obese and their stories are heartbreaking. Getting teased, not having friends, not being able to play sports with their peers, not being included in social activities, etc. Then there is the diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc that they develop early which damages their body.

Diabetes and others: Being obese at any age puts you at higher risk of developing diabetes and hypertension and of having an undesirable cholesterol pattern. The big worry for teens is that you have so many years of anticipated life ahead of you (more so than someone in middle age) so that developing these problems at an early age is more likely to lead to complications of diabetes and/or early cardiovascular disease.

Mutual support helps: Compulsive overeating disrupts work and social relationships.  These problems may indeed be repaired through participation in mutual support groups such as overeaters anonymous and other 12 step programs.

Happens in slender or skinny people, and worth investigating. Sounds secondary, and need to treat root cause, review your medical records, history, and do further work up. Taking PPI (anti acid meds) changes your pH, and this can be additive. Need a 2nd opinion to correlate!

Diet for diabetes: Healty diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, berries blue berries, very lean meat-small amounts, wild salmon or sardines, lots of salads, and only oil use should be extra virgin olive oil.  Keep sugars very low.  Learn about low glycemic foods (google it).  No soda or diet drinks. Walnuts and almonds are good snacks.  Avoid cheese and whole milk.  Use skim milk. Keep weight normal.

There are many: If you are a teen you are at a great time in your life:your metabolism is optimal and you should be a the best overall health . There are so many options. For exercise find something that you enjoy(dancing, zumba, swimming, vollyball, etc). For diet all you may have to do is avoid the junck food and sodas.

Not a great idea...: Diet pills can have potentially dangerous side effects depending upon their ingredients. "herbal" or "natural" diet pill ingredients doesn't necessarily mean "safe." also, because they are considered part of the food industry and are therefore regulated differently by the fda, there is no guarantee that they can live up to their manufacturers' claims.

Teen age weight: The best way to loose weight is with control of diet and exercise.  For most teens the fastest way to do this is to cut out sugary beverages from their diet (soda, juice, coffee drinks, gatorade, etc).  From one 12oz sugary drink each day in addition to all the regular foods a person will gain almost 20lbs per year! cut that out and fast weight loss.  Healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs/week.
