No one has guarantees but you owe it to yourself to become fully informed about your illness and I think you will discover that the odds are very much in your favor.

40-50 years: One survey i found stated that the median life expectancy for people with sickle cell disease is 42 years for men and 48 years for women.  Keep in mind that those numbers represent the age at which half of the people die - so many people can live much lomger with good medical care and taking very good care of themselves.

Shortened. : Depends on the complications experienced as a child. Those with numerous complications will love shorter lives than those without complications. Those without complications can live into their 60s  the average lifespan of someone with sickle cell is probably in the mid to late 40s  we are still trying to understand why some people have so many troubles and others do not.

Having beta thalassemia major or sickle cell disease, or both sickle cell trait and beta thalassemia trait, usually causes severe enough chronic disease symptoms to shorten lifespan an uncertain amount.

Severe anemia: One can die from severe anemia from massive acute bleeding  due to hypoxia - decrease oxygenation to vitals organ that resulting in organ failure . When  anemia iis a slow ongoing/chronic  process- our body can compensate. When it is severe enough- enlargement of the heart /cardiomegaly and congestive heart failure can happen. Kidney failre and death can happen in severe hemolytic anemia.

Not if treated: It takes a very long time for you to get near death from B12 deficiency. The treatment is so simple and effective, why chance it?

Typically not: Pernicious anemia when treated with life long B12 replacement confers a normal lifespan. There is an increased risk of stomach cancer in some cases which can affect survival times.

Probably no: If you have pernicious anemia you do not absorb B12 effectively.  That is easily fixed with either B12 injections or large B12 oral doses daily.  Unfortunately, patients with B12 deficiency often have other associated autoimmune issues that develop.  In general though, pa alone will not shorten life as long as you treat it correctly.
