Two Issues: Sleep paralysis is safe and usually a benign condition.  That said it can be associated with sleep deprivation (lack of sleep) or narcolepsy.

Alarm clock: You can use medications that suppress sleep paralysis.  I had a few patients that do not get sleep paralysis when using an alarm clock to wake them up. They would have often sleep paralysis when awaking on their own.

Sleep Paralysis: Sleep paralysis happens to everyone in rem sleep
when you wake up in rem sleep you feel paralyzed, you can blink your eyelids and snap out of this state unless it occurs during daytime with muscle weakness then rule out narcolepsy.

REM sleep: Rem sleep or "active" sleep is only about 10 mins in the sleep cycle. The autonomic nervous system becomes very avctive in this phase and sleep paralysis indicates that as the problem. It might be that it is suffering from oxidative stress due to poor diet. Try a pristine diet and see if it helps. Taking a multivitamin plus  b complex and magnesium might help. It's easy to do.
