Dark urinre: Usually means you are dehydrated and not drinking enough water. As for swollen Lo, doesn't sound like diabetes but I'd get it checked

Probable infection: See a doctor asap. People with diabetes have compromised immune systems and poor wound healing mechanisms. Simple wounds can progress to serious infections if not treated quickly. He may need oral antibiotics, special wound care, blood/radiology studies. Get good glucose (fasting 100), clean wound with tap water using bulb syringe, apply antibiotic cream with q-tip, leave uncovered, and elevate.

Needs HIV test: It's impossible to say without examining the patient, and there are certainly a lot of reasons other than aids to have dark spots on the body.  That being said, with a known exposure to hiv, it is crucial that both of you get tested. Please take care i yourselves and get checked asap.

Possible, but rare: Peripheral diabetic neuropathy, often starting on the feet, can have itching sensation but more often with burning/tingling/pain rather than itching.  Often dry skin, eczema (dishydrosis), fungal infections are causes of itching on feet areas. I suggest consulting doc for an examination and test for diabetes, if needed. Good luck.

Complicated: There are physiologic feedback loops of most major glandular systems in the body. This is a very complicated subject, however quickly: hypertension is high blood pressure and can be primary or secondary, overlayed is diabetes. If hypertension is related to high blood volume, such as seen in congestive heart failure you will see swelling or edema in the extremities. See an md asap.

Other complications from diabetes involve losing vision, kidney failure, heart disease. There are many treatments for diabetes that should help. Go to the doctor for an evaluation and treatment.

Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin.  Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.

Family DOC 1st: Your family doc can help sugar and cholesterol and to decide who else is needed. Blood sugar needs top control (endocrinologist).  More studies may be needed to show the seriosness & possibly stent obstructions (radiologist)  a vascular surgeon might need to bypass arteries. A wound specialist for sure.A podiatrist for toe nails and special shoes.
