Almost white filling: Technically it's called an unfilled resin, aka plastic but....You should think of it as a soft white filling used to reduce the risk of getting a cavity on that surface of the tooth.  Generally used on children ages 6 and up.

Usually no. : The sealants are in the grooves of the teeth. If someone grinds their teeth they are usually not grinding the grooves of the teeth. If they are grinding the tooth that much, some sort of dental treatment is needed.

Prevents decay: Sealants are commonly done for children on their molars to seal the fissures (valleys) on the tops of the teeth. This helps to prevent decay in these areas. It is not usually done on adults but if you desire this, you should consult your dentist.

Not remarkable: Dental sealants have been around for over 30 years.  The technique has only changed slightly but the materials are much better.  The original used a resin bonded into the deep grooves on chewing side of tooth but used an ultraviolet light.  The light had poor penetration and some sealants failed.  The newer lights are much stronger.  The resin used is firmer has better bond, plus no bph.

Highly recommended!: Dental sealants are a great preventative measure to protect the biting surface of back teeth and pits and fissures in the back of front teeth.   The sealants  can be performed by a dentist or hygienist and help to prevent caries.  It is a resin material that flows over the pits and grooves
