i have had high rbc for 9months w/ normal-high but increasing hemoglobin&hematocrit. all levels are now high. could dehydration be the reason? i am female and drink min 40oz of water per day &follow a healthy diet with exercise. no medications.

Hematologist ...: Dehydration is probably not the answer. Rising Hemoglobin &amp; Hematocrit indicate you are probably making more Red Blood cells than Normal. The Hematologist  is who you need to resolve you questions fastest.

Doubtful.: Also not far from normal h/h for a young adult male. Living at a high altitude (over 2000 meters) can also produce high hct/hgb.

Dehydration: Dehydration is treated with fluids, which can given either by mouth or intravenously, depending on how dehydrated the patient is. How low one's creatinine (c) falls after hydration depends on what the person's baseline c was. Normally, the greater the serum sodium and creatinine are the greater the percentage fall in both after fluids are given. If dehydration is severe, a person is hospitalized.

Simple diagnosis: If a person has dropped their body weight by x number of pounds in a short interval, (hours, days) it is water weight or dehydration.Blood work that shown a normal ion balance confirms that dehydration as isotonic.High sodium (or glucose) levels would mean hypertonic, while low sodium levels would correlate with hypotonic.

I would be most: suspicious of the low vitamin D level. The PTH (normal range considered to be 10-65 pg/ml or ng/L) seems to be about right for the modestly elevated initial calcium level. But if that calcium level was really the result of dehydration (which could be the explanation) then a PTH of 14 is a little low and hypoparathyroidism might be considered.Consider further investigation and vitamin D supplement

However, there are many factors that can cause anemia- eg- bleeding, iron deficiency, vit deficiency, destruction of red blood cells, bone marrow failure, other chronic diseases etc. The treatment has to be directed towards the underlying cause.

Depends. how low?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, most people do not have any symptoms with hemoglobin level of 10 gm/dL or hematocrit of 30. 
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

Depends on details: Dehydration has different meanings depending on one's perspective. Many non-dehydrated people say they are dehydrated, because equate being extra thirsty with being dehydrated. Iron levels are just numbers, several of them. They have little meaning unless a doctor sees the whole picture. That means there is no good answer here, without knowing many details of the case.
