Stroke/encephalopath: If you od and stop breathing etc..Your brain will not get enough oxygen and may suffer anoxic encephalopathy (stroke is usually one area of brain, encephalopathy=entire brain) which maybe worse than death. Next bad thing is a heart attack. Maybe worse is you may not be looked at so nicely as a guy who abuses and od on narc...

No single drug: Prevention is better than cure . The single most important medicine is probably fluid resuscitation including blood and blood products to  change the course of the shock after trauma . However , there are specific treatment modalities depending what is happening in real lime  . If  there is cardiac arrest and caused by arrhythmia , treating it according to the protocol will be appropriate

High pressures: can be dangerous, with rupture of blood vessels in the brain. Long term causes damage to organs, particularly kidneys. Treatment is best, see your doctor

my husband needs to be on escitalopram for a newly diagnosed anxiety disorder due to a trauma. the problem is that he is on warfarin. he is taking the medication (just started), but he thinks he will now bleed to death. how do i help him?

: Just reassure him that the risk of increased bleeding is true but careful monitoring is all he needs, no different with monitoring the signs and symptoms of abnormal bleeding when he takes warfarin alone. Good luck.

: Please review the premedication protocol of the hospital and obtain an Allergy consult. A CXR , EKG 12 lead, and a Cardiology consult are also indicated.

Dosage OK, check MD: The dosages you mention are within appropriate limits.  Side effect list on any opiate medication will list death as a possibility, don't get too alarmed.  You need to check with your prescribing MD re interactions and tell him/her ALL meds and supplements you are taking.  It is critical that you follow dosage directions EXACTLY with medications of this type.  Good luck!

how can adhd medication cause sudden death in a person who is healthy and without heart problems? i don't understand how this is possible.

CNS stimulant: This drug block the reuptake and increases the release of norepinephrine and Dopamine in extra neuronal space. As in any potent CNS stimulant, if abuse, the result can be catastrophic. Use it as directed by your physician. Now be careful when you combine ritalin, Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) and methylphenidate as i can see in your medication. It's dangerous.

i'm going through a very emotionally challenging time due to death of someone close but i started taking prozac 2wks before the death. will a challenging time prevent or delay the medication from working? i am feeling like the meds isn't working?

: There is typically a delay for antidepressants to work successfully, and an appropriate dose titration may also take several weeks.  Do contact your provider, and discuss your current response, as this can likely be readily improved with a few simple steps.

i was prescribed seroquel 25mg for sleep. i wanted to know how safe this medication is? ive read a few stories about it being connected to death which makes me not want to take it but i absolutely need a sleeping medication due to adhd?

: All medications can have side effects. It is best to ask the prescriber for the reason why they chose this as opposed to something else. When you get a prescription always ask for the reason, what it will do and what are the possible side effects.

with covid 19 they talk about underlying disease and co morbities as increased risk factors in death. if you have hypertension that is controlled to normal w/medication and asthma that is controlled w/rare symptoms is this still elevated risk? thanks

COVID-19: Asthma may be a risk, but probably minimal if well controlled. Hypertension is not likely to increase risk. The main kinds of problems that might increase risk of bad outcomes with COVID-19 are poorly controlled asthma, COPD, congestive heart failure, advanced cancer, and anything requiring strong immunosuppression (e.g. transplant patients) or chemotherapy.
