A member asked:

With covid 19 they talk about underlying disease and co morbities as increased risk factors in death. if you have hypertension that is controlled to normal w/medication and asthma that is controlled w/rare symptoms is this still elevated risk? thanks

COVID-19: Asthma may be a risk, but probably minimal if well controlled. Hypertension is not likely to increase risk. The main kinds of problems that might increase risk of bad outcomes with COVID-19 are poorly controlled asthma, COPD, congestive heart failure, advanced cancer, and anything requiring strong immunosuppression (e.g. transplant patients) or chemotherapy.

COVID 19: People with uncontrolled or poorly controlled hypertension and asthma both carry increased risk for more severe COVID 19 illness. However, if you have mild asthma or hypertension or they are well controlled it may not have significant impact on COVID 19.
