Honesty: Be as honest as you can with yourself and your care team. If you have a history of diagnosed ailments and a family history of similar ailments a case could be made for having a genuine concern. If you're aware of hypochondriacal tendencies, be as honest with these as well. Often, true hypochondriacs have emotional issues that hypochondriasis masks. If this is the case, find a recommended therapist

Yes LOTS: Yes there are, and a lot depend on the age of  the teen and the state you live in. In most states the age of consent for mental issues is 14, not 18. That means a teen can refuse to be committed at 14 or older. If you believe them to be a danger to self or others, you can have them evaluated (taken by police to the ed if necessary), but a committal order may be needed to commit them.

It won’t : Adjusting sleep cycle will not be accomplished by using sedatives. They are for temporary sleep interruptions. You need a sleep specialist to assess this. 4 months of insomnia does suggest that your cycle requires fixing. Good hygiene: bedroom cool, dark. Go to sleep and awake at same time. No caffeine after mid afternoon. No heavy exercise after mid afternoon. Review current Rx and OTC meds used.
