Cysts in bone: Cystic changes or erosions in bone post trauma can indicate that the bone matrix was disrupted from the injury and cystic changes have resulted.  It does not mean that you have avascular necrosis, but it can mean that there are changes in the trabecular patterns of the bone due to the trauma. Non union: Chronic Fx is not really a medical term. I assume they meat non Union or maybe Old fracture vs acute. Cystic changes are most likely related to degenerative arthritic changes or chronic arthritis .  The navicular bone is the first bone after the all on the medial/ inside of the foot. Ie begins the big toe and metatarsal back to just before the ankle or Talus bone. Are u a diabetic?

fell. got an mri. broke talus, and navicular bones (foot) and have a join sprain (talonavicular). said i can ditch my orth. boot after 2 months (november 9th). im still having stiffness and and still hurt with rotating foot. is that normal??

: Stiffness is expected to some extent after a fracture and wearing a boot for 2 months. Physical therapy is usually needed in order to ensure proper recovery of range of motion and strength. That is usually considered at the time of follow up with Ortho team.

I think if your : Having a surgery the recovery time should of already been discussed with you by your doctor. All questions relating to a planned surgery should ideally be answered before the procedure is scheduled. We don't know the size of the fragment being avulsed, nor what is meant by "arthritic changes removed" .....this question is best answered by your surgeon.

Orthotics: custom made orthotics can be made to accommodate problems such as an accessory navicular bone. The orthotic should be moulded to the foot and then the device is made to help accommodate the area. It can be made to protect the bone or elevate it. It all depends.
