Foreign body: It sounds like you are having a foreign body reaction. Somehow, inert material has entered your skin in the axilla/armput, has stimulated an inflammatory "foreign body" (term given to anything not "native" to your body) reaction, &amp; now traveled to your hand.  Why? I don't know. You can safely watch it (as long as you do not feel sick at all) or have it removed.  Good luck!

Might be: Cysts usually do not hurt unless inflamed. Women shave area & sometimes improperly with straight razor that causes nicks for bacteria to climb through & develop infected sweat glands, called hiradenitis, which can be devastating.  Use of a used razor is discouraged & use of another person's razor is frought with concern for  infection.  A princess electric type of razor is advised.

See an MD: On an exam it is relatively easy to differentiate a lymph node from hidradenitis suppurativa. In any case, if the lump has not changed in years, it is nothing to worry about.

i have what looks to be a cyst under my armpit. how is this treated? the pain started yesterday morning and it was a relatively small pimple. now it has grown in size and it is become increasingly painful.

Depends: There are lymph glands in that area that can become swollen while working to clear body serum of debris.They can also become infected when germs invade them. There are also apocrine glands in the area that can become infected. Moist heat can improve blood flow &amp; speed natural healing. If this persists or worsens you may need to see your doc for meds or a surgical drainage of the process.

Recurrent cyst: Cysts often recur:  it's normal. Return to the dermatologist. Perhaps she will recommend minor surgery this time to remove the cyst or otherwise prevent recurrence.

Wait for answer: If you are seeing your doctor tomorrow, you should just wait to see what will be found instead of worrying over potentially bad results.  Some cancer can indeed hurt -depending on the site involved.

You : You should go back and see the surgeon who did your first surgery. There are many things this could be and the best option is to see the person who did your initial work. Most likely if the cyst they removed is normal tissue then this would be normal tissue or a recurrence of the cyst or it could be something new which your initial surgeon would be able to let you know.
