i have a small moveable lump on my knee cap.... it doesn't seem to be getting any bigger but i was curious what it is? i workout every day so maybe its a cyst? also i don't feel any pain from it

Arthritis: A cyst under the patella (kneecap) will often develop as a result of articular cartilage degeneration which can occur with arthritis or other conditions that lead to damage of the cartilage.  These can be found in any joint.  The cyst is a fluid filled cavity that will often connect with the joint at the area of cartilage damage.  If the cyst has occurred after tka it is likely something else.

Often the patient and/or doctor put a marker at the point of maximum pain prior to taking the MRI to help to isolate the area of concern better. Cross esection views are best to determine if the patella is tilting with the knee bent.

Orthopedic eval: You should see an orthopedist.  A pop sound and impaired ability to bear weight are suspicious for a soft tissue injury to the ligaments or tendons in the knee.  In the short term, you can ice it, elevate it, compress it with an ace wrap, and take some Motrin or advil (ibuprofen).

See a Specialist: Most injuries will heal with time but since you are still suffering there may be something more going on within you knee that could be treatable with physical therapy, injection, or even surgery.  Now is the time to see a specialist and possibly have more advanced imaging like a mri.  Pain around the knee cap can be due to muscular imbalance which can be improved with therapy.
