Doubtful: They may be related to the joint lining herniating outside the joint capsule, but not to a hernia of the groin/abdominal wall, which is what most people are referring to when talking about a hernia.

Yes: it means you have early arthritis- baker's cysts come from fluid leaking out of the joint and are caused by meniscus tears/arthritis

Orthopaedic Surgeon: I would suggest a seeing an orthopaedic surgeon.  He or she would be able to determine the nature of the cyst by exam or x-ray, and offer the appropriate treatment options.  Good luck.

These : These can be difficult problems to fix and often poorly respond to treatment including surgery.  Patients that have failed conservative treatment you may consider the following options:

1. L5-s1 disk with annular tissue - recommend discogram to determine if this is the cause of the pain followed by either endoscopic discectomy or fusion surgery.  Please see my health guides on endoscopic disk surgery.
2. Si joint pain - consideration for si joint fusion.
3.Coccyx pain - if pain is related to prior fracture sometimes surgical removal of the coccyx may give pain relief

just got my mri report. note is made of a lobular septated 2.6 cm posterior perisynovial ganglion cyst about the knee joint. is this the same as bakers cyst? do you think this caused my calf pain? do i need surgery to remove it? and is it must?

Ganglia: Often these are ganglion cysts.  Orthopedic surgeon is often the best person to treat these.  Aspiration / needling and injection can be tried, but they don't often work.

Uncertain: This can't be diagnosed with the information that is available. A history, physical examination &amp; other studies may be needed to determine cause/causes.

It could from: Arthritis or injury happen to the joint. If it is from arthritis usually very close to the joint mainly on the top.

A2 pulley: Ganglions can develop at the edge of the a1 or a2 pulley of the flexor tendons. Ganglions are synovial cysts arising from a tear or opening in the tendon sheath. Synovial tissue causes cyst to form and emerge from the tear that results from over use or trauma.

Clinical diagnosis: Do you have any symptoms? What is the size of the cyst? You can show it to your Primary care doctor.

With the incomplete data you have provided you could wait for a few months &amp; follow up accordingly.

MRI may not be needed.
