See ans: Cymbalta and Paxil (paroxetine) interaction may cause serotonin syndrome, which is from too much serotonin in the nervous system. Symptoms are dose-related and potentially quite serious. Discuss with prescribing doctor. I hope this helps.

Yes: Antidepressants in general can cause sexual side effects, which include decreased interest, inability to maintain an erection (in men) or maintain arousal, and/or inability to have an orgasm.  All of these effects are mediated by a specific serotonin receptor.  Of course, depression itself can lower interest in sex.

Both Increase Risk: Both Paxil (paroxetine) cr and Cymbalta can lead to an increased risk of bleeding.  This risk increases in patient's taking warfarin (blood thinner), aspirin, and any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen, naproxen, celebrex, to name a few.  It is very important to inform your physician of all medications that you take including prescription and over-the-counter agents.

On citalopram: Dear XLarson,

Both citalopram and paxil are same class of medication (SSRIs), so it sounds like your doctor replaced paxil with citalopram, which seems like a reasonable thing to do given that citalopram has fewer side-effects. I’m unsure about adding Cymbalta (it’s also an antidepressant that’s often prescribed for pain associated with arthritis). I’d encourage you to talk to your prescriber.

i recently switched from paxil (paroxetine) to cymbalta. 20mg to 60mg. i took cymbalta at night (only twice so far) and woke up with a burning throat. is this ok?

naso-pharyngitis
pharyngo-laryngeal pain and upper respiratory tract infection which explains burning throat.

i tried celexa, effexor, cymbalta, pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) lexapro, zoloft, wellbutrin, which barely helped. what else could i try?  how do u feel about paxil?

See a psychiatrist.: A specialist like a psychiatrist can help clarify your symptoms and hone in on an effective medication dose with at least 4-8 weeks trial.  Don't lose hope.  There's many effective treatment options.
