: This means that they did not see any obstruction but it does not mean there is no tumor. Tumors or polyps are best seen via colonoscopy so if this is a concern, you should see a GI doctor and pursue a colonoscopy. Good luck!

Other imaging tests: include ultrasound and MRI.  Occasionally upper GI series is useful, but it has been largely replaced by endoscopy.  Nuclear medicine tests include HIDA scan. Abdominal xrays have a limited role.

does ct abdomen and pelvis show any damage from endometriosis?

Accepted Answer

Suggestive: The ct studies could demonstrate the mass like collections of endometriosis (endometrioma) but it will not be able to show tubal blockages. Uterine, bowel, bladder, etc invasion can also be shown or suggested.

after i use the bathroom i feel a bump on my lower left abdomen to the left and below my belly button. i had a ct abdomen and pelvis ct scan that came back normal. could the ct scan have missed something and what could be causing this bump?

Could be an : abdominal HERNIA

Get a full physical examination and show the lump to the examiner. These hernias are often MISSED by CT scan since the ANGLE is often not right.

Usually yes: It can see pancreatic cancer. Contrast is more needed for vasculature. Pancreatic cancer is a solid tumor that can be seen without contrast.

my estrogen levels are really low but still having mthly periods. they do seem a bit lighter. worried about cancer but ct of abdomen and pelvis clear?

Periods lighter: At your stated age, the most likely cause of your lighter periods is the onset of menopause.  Ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancer seem unlikely with the negative imaging study you cited. I assume you also had a pap smear and a gyn exam.  Is there a family history of cancer? If so, you are smart to undergo periodic assessments by your medical team.

if colon cancer was causing pain ruq wouldn't it be big enough to show on ct of abdomen and pelvis? 31 yo- fecal occult blood negative

Accepted Answer

Not likely colon Ca: Classic colon cancer causes pain via colon obstruction, so in that case, CT would see it. But this would not be expected in a 31 yo w/ occult neg stool. 
  RUQ pain can be any number of causes in young adult. Need to know more history and clinical exam by a Dr. to advise work up.
 Best screen for colon Ca is colonoscopy, but unless strong family history, may start around 50 yrs old.

many doctors have said that i might have bad gallbladder because of the chronic back pain, pain in the right shoulder and adominal gnawing. i have had a ct of abdomen and pelvis and ultrasound. everything appeared ok. should iget a hida scan done?

Nothing serious: Anatomical variant of no clinical concern.

Accepted Answer

Stone: That most likely is not the cause of your pain but you have to drink a lot of fluids if no other contraindications. Follow up with the doctor.
