my girlfriend has a pain on her left side in the middle of her rib cage. says the pain is similar to the cramp like pain you can get after running?

Sounds like: Something is inflamed and irritated. She can try Ibuprofen 4  every 8 hours or aleve (naproxen) 3 twice a day then if it doesn't improve she can see the doctor.

when running i get a kind-off cramp under my right rib and also a pain in my right shoulder.  what could cause this?

WHAT HELPS?: Could be pulled muscle, could be air bubble in esophagus. On the right side is lung, ribs and below ribs gall bladder and liver. Make sue that you hydrate when running and slow down and walk to relieve the cramp if necessary.

May not b asthma but: You should see your asthma dr to be sure....Do you have the pain at any other time?..Sometimes a pain like that is a "muscle sprain"..Or if you are having other symptoms maybe your asthma meds need an adjustment...Keep track of when you have the pain and see your dr. i have cramps on my right side just underneath my ribs. sometimes severe but not always. loss ofappetite is present too. is it appendicitis?

Not likely from the: Location where you say. Appendicitis is usually on the lower right side , but there are unusual exceptions. And some time you have mild pain for a few days and they it is worse. If the pain is severe enough to keep you from walking normally or not able to do your normal physical chores you should get it checked, and be careful.

UR gallbladder: A long history of right sided upper abdominal pain should make a search for stones in gb mandatory even it is just for such a short time. If the pain occurs during physical activity it is called "stitch" or exercise related transient abdominal pain (ertap). It can be on the right or left side and is a benign condition of unknown origin.

Sodium deficit: If you are sweating profusely due to running in warm weather, you may need to increase your intake of salt. I understand that we are warned to reduce salt intake, but you may be losing too much due to sweating. I applaud your effort at being healthy.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

good day, been having headache that is not getting better since this morning. i experience now cramps, on my ribs sides. i notice headache for the last 2 weeks afternoon but today it is lasting longer?

Headache : Hi. I would contact a doctor to get checked out. One possibility
Could be dehydration. It’s a very common cause of persistent headaches and could explain the rob cramps (like the ones when you go running and are dehydrated ?)

Intercostal muscles: When running, particularly at speeds that cause your breathing rate to really increase, you use a lot of otherwise seldomly used muscles to breathe, including intracostal muscles, which are little muscles between the ribs that help with breathing. It is likely that these muscles are sore, particularly if you are just getting back into form.

: Any history of recent trauma or illness like mononucleosis? Any fever or cough to suggest pleurisy or early pneumonia?  The spleen is located in the left upper abdomen. If pain persists,your son should be examined by a physician preferably in the hospital emergency room where prompt care and testing are available.
