Any history of recent trauma or illness like mononucleosis? Any fever or cough to suggest pleurisy or early pneumonia? The spleen is located in the left upper abdomen. If pain persists,your son should be examined by a physician preferably in the hospital emergency room where prompt care and testing are available.
