Yes,that is ok but: you might want to put some polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) ointment on it twice a day.

3 stitches between toes. any reason super glue or liquid bandage over area is bad idea?  can i briefly swim with it covering &/or waterproof bandaide?

LET IT HEAL: Anytime a patient of mine has tried something I did not approve of, it get's screwed up. Let it heal until he/she removes the sutures.

wisdom teeth extraction done over two weeks ago. have a stitch on my lower left cheek on inside but it hasnt dissolved it's been 17 days and a hard painful lump has formed over it covering most of it?

See the surgeon: You should have an appointment to see the dentist\surgeon that extracted the tooth.   If the suture is non resorbable,  it needs to be removed.    If the lump is painful,  you may have some inflammation or infections at the extraction site in which case you need to be seen.    It is also possible that the area is still tender but healing normally.   Best to go back to the dentist to have him check

Better: Ask the surgeon. It is not clear how long you had the stitches or where or if it is wound dehiscence or normal seeping from the sutures

i had facial stitches removed. can i go in the sun but cover the scar with my hair or a patch? or do i need to completely avoid the sun for 12 months?

Accepted Answer

Depends: Depends on the kind of skin you have, the nature & location of the surgery. If you have dark skin the area of surgery may get darker than the surrounding skin. Ask your dr about protecting from sun. You may also want to use a retinoic acid cream.

can new stitched wound due to normal birth delivery contract hiv via blood left on toilet seat cover and inner rim and stained water in toilet bowl?

I say "No": Your stitched wound is sealed by fibrin and is impervious to HIV unless something happened to re-open it. It's a wimpy virus. Congratulations on being a new mother.

12 days post wisdom tooth surgery. no stitches on the site. how sturdy is the bloodclot at this point and what are the chances the  tissue developing under is finally covering the bone and nerve? if i place wet gauze on would it snatch the clot?

Healing: You are probably healing normally. By this point the cot has been replaced with reparative tissue. Ifn you have any concerns, contact your Surgeon.

Fold in the pleura: This is a knife-like pain that happens from time to time to many of us and taht gets worse as we breathe in. There are many myths, but what is actually happening is that the pleura folds on itself, like underwear might do. A very deep breath will generally end this, or it will self-cure. It's almost never related to disease and if you have no other symptoms, ignore it.

Your doctor: Your OB or midwife will do any repair you need. Occasionally, your provider isn't comfortable with the kind of tear you have and will call in a specialist to assist them or do the repair.

when is it ok to get stitches wet?

Accepted Answer

In general about: 48 hours after sutures have been applied after surgery. Please ask your doctor for definitive directives. Take care.
