See your General Practitioner or a specialist Endocrinologist for examination, imaging, lab tests, diagnosis, and appropriate treatment plan.

Not only on nose: There are many forms of lupus. The butterfly rash is well described but the rash not only need to be there it can occur on other facial areas a well as the trunk. Males tend to be less prone but lupus occurs in them as well. The best test is to see a rheumatologist or your primary as a start. A few simple blood tests can rule out lupus quickly.

Check it out: Lupus in the skin can take many forms.  What you are describing sound convincing for a variation of skin lupus. I would see a dermatologist who can confirm this for you and help in clearing up the skin and giving you guidance on maintenance of you skin's health.

my wife has been having joint pains and a gets a red rash across her nose and cheeks. she has had an anf test for lupus which came back 1:80 titer. we were told anything below 1:80 is taken as negative. can this change to a positive reading later on?

Yes: Anf or antinuclear factor is rather nonspecific and it can change in time. Her symptoms are suggestive for the lupus spectrum of autoimmune diseases and further specific tests will likely be needed under the direction of a rheumatologist.

Lupus: Seems consistent with SLE . Need Rheumatologist follow up and specific anti double stranded DNA and other labs.  SLE affects your kidney and can cause pericarditis. Immediate follow and management is helpful.
