Depends : In the properly selected patient who has clearly failed nonoperative care and has pain that is clearly coming from an arthritic knee, a knee replacement can potentially have a dramatic impact on lowering there pain and improving their function.  I would not hesitate to discuss the risks and benefits if your specific case with your surgeon.

Ok: It's ok for someone who is in otherwise good health to have knee replacement surgery done if it can improve quality of life. Would first obtain medical clearance. And in many instances knee replacements can be done with regional anesthesia. Speak with your orthopedist.

Not gonna rupture: Patellar tendon pain is not a sign that it's going to rupture. However ice the better option for helping reduce pain from patella tendinitis. I would consider also taking some oral anti-inflammatories and get physical therapy to help with this which is most effective. Your final choice to consider is platelets rich plasma injections into the patella tendon. Good luck and see your surgeon.

Observe: After knee replacement or other major surgery there can be either numbness or hypersensitivity of local nerves.    When you put "heat" creme on hypersensitive nerves, it can cause a burning sensation.  It's probably not dangerous.  Worth watching if the sensation gets better when you withhold the creme.  The main thing to do is make sure you get your range of motion back and strengthen you knee.

have u ever heard of macoplasty in place of a total knee replacement? if so, is it good? i hate to do invasive total knee replacement if this could help.

Early mobilization: Following knee replacement, early mobilization is the key.  Patients are now ambulating either the day of surgery or the day after.  One can put full weight on the operated knee immediately following surgery and usually require the use of a cane or a walker.  Focus on range of motion is also important, followed by quadriceps strengthening program.  Most patients walk normally in approx 8 weeks.
