could i have a brain tumor? lately i've been having the symptoms for it like headaches, vision and hearing problems, light headed, and more.

Could be migraine: There are different types of headache- migraine and tension headaches are the most common ones. Migraine headaches usually are one sided headaches- can be preceeded with aura, hallucination etc- also can be associated with photosensitivity etc. Although brain tumor also can give headache- but it is not very common.Having said that-if those symptoms bother you- go to see your md and get checked.

my 16 yr old daughter has been having symptoms severe head pain , vision changes , hearing changes ,dizziness, feeling faint , balance problems could it be a brain tumor ? she did have a ct scan but it didnt show anything?

: Not clear why you ponder a "brain tumor" with a reassuringly normal CAT scan.  More likely,  the reported symptoms are consistent with migraine events, and you are advised to seek consultation with a pediatric neurologist ASAP.  All of this can potentially be controlled and reversed.

Possibly: It depends on whether the inner ear was radiated to a dose higher than its tolerance (typically, starting above 45 gy or 4500 cgy.) you can ask your radiation oncologist to evaluate their radiation treatment plan to check. Audiologists can determine if the hearing loss is conductive (middle ear problem) or sensorineural (inner ear problem.).

The : The facial nerve (also called "cranial nerve seven" or "cranial nerve vii") is the nerve that moves the muscles in the face.  There is one for each side of the face.  If facial paralysis is caused by damage to the facial nerve on one side of the face, there are several options available.  These options include using another working nerve on the damaged side, or connecting part of the facial nerve on the good side to the damaged side of the face.

The number of options and techniques used is steadily growing, largely due to the knowledge gained in an effort to repair injuries sustained in modern warfare.

A discussion with a plastic surgeon is a first step.

dx w/ sshl after 7days of low tone hearing loss/tinnitus -no vertigo. on predinsone. saw neuro, did exam and baer both normal. wants mri. chances i have brain tumor or acoustic neuroma?  so scared.

I empathize: I understand your fear, which is completely natural when you hear that a tumor is a possibility for your symptoms. All I can say is hang in there. Do the tests as your doctor asks. In medicine we usually rule out the worst and most dangerous conditions first, so the MRI is a reasonable step. There are many other possibilities, however. Be sure to talk to your support people, and keep your chin up!

No: Would not expect tumor of cranial nerves 5, 6 or 7 to cause gastrointestinal problems. However, involvement of cranial nerve 8 could elicit vertigo with vomiting that could be indirectly interpreted as being of gastrointestinal origin.

Anxiety and memory: The simple answer is "yes". Anxiety interferes with concentration and focusing. It is very common to be a bit scattered when experiencing anxiety.  Memory problems do not suggest you have a brain tumor. So, relax about your memory lapses.
