when i was young (2-3 years old), i will constantly cough all night and then throw up if i eat cold food or foods like bananas. this continued for about 3 or 4 years. i wanted to know what the cause of this was?

: You may have had childhood asthma and allergies. If you are well now, watch for signs of breathing difficulty, food allergic reactions and seasonal rhinitis. It is common to note improvement during adulthood if this was the problem.

i've had a whooping cough for a year now and it's getting worse. i can't eat oily and cold food or drink and when i cough too hard i vomit a lot.

Chronic cough: Chronic cough may persist after resolution of infection but more importantly maybe due to a number of causes quite different from the presumed infection. Patients with chronic cough will benefit from detailed evaluation to determine the cause and proper treatment if indicated. A consult with an internist will be a good start. Take care.

See a Doctor: Since you are pregnant you maybe having what is called morning sickness. Nausea, upset stomach, queasy feeling. This is common in pregnancy.
With the metformin I take it your needing it for Diabetes?
From your med list you are pregnant, with diabetes and anemia? In the face of a new cough and vomiting please see your Doctor. You unborn could be at risk. You need to follow up soon.

have, post nasal drip (pnd).  if i cough some up it has bits of food in it after eating.  does pnd drain into lungs and take food with it? aspiration?

Mucus ; aspiration: Mucus can drain into your bronchial tubes, but you would be coughing to keep it out of your lungs.  Bits of food may still be on the back of your throat when you're coughing, and come up that way.  If your cough or gag reflex is impaired for any reason, then secretions and food can be aspirated.  This can happen when someone has had a stroke, for instance.

is it normal to have inconsistent stools with ibs?;  some foods make me feel ill. bad cough sometimes after eating. voice always raspy. can't yell.

May be IBS plus LPR?: The GI tract has a very limited # of symptoms to signal its distress--nausea/vomiting, diarrhea/constipation, bloating, pain, fullness, bleeding, etc. As you know, many of these characterize IBS, but are also seen with inflammatory, infectious, ischemic, malabsorptive, and functional disorders. Directed studies are appropriate. The upper GI history suggests LPR (larygo-pharyngeal reflux).

GERD: Your reflux may result in chest symptoms and aspiration is possible. Control reflux with an over the counter anti-reflux medication, avoiding caffeine and meals less than 2 hours prior to bedtime. Sleep with your head elevated on two pillows.

help! i eat food that contain sand or maybe dust. it comes from the spinach. i don't ussualy waste my food, so i eat them anyway. after eating i cough a lot, i drink water and my throat still doesn't feel nice, and advice to relieve this?

: Wash your vegetables well before cooking or eating them.That should remove any sand, dirt, or dust.

: Allergies to or idiosyncratic intolerance of various foods&amp; spices can cause overproduction of.throat mucus. You'll have to identify these triggers and eliminate them.
