That requires a thoughtful evaluation by a psychiatrist usually, though sometimes your pcp will initiate the prescription process.  Sometimes you will not respond best to the initial one and need adjustments, depending on your situation and response, side effects, etc.

Glaucoma antidepress: Yes. Many of the antidepressants can be safely used with glaucoma. Some of them include wellbutrin, (bupropion) prozac, celexa, possibly lexapro. Always include your psychiatrist and your ophthalmologist in the decision.

Yes: Unfortunately this is not at all anuncommon event. It is the bread and butter of psychiatry. When one antidepressant fails to work, it is our job to come up with another antidepressant or combination of medications that will bring the persons mood back to normal. Not really: Coffee ( due to the caffeine) may pick up a person and energize them. In doing so it may temporarily relieve some of the symptoms of depression such as fatigue, tiredness and lack of energy . However, coffee does not treat depression and if it is present it would be helpful to have an evaluation by a psychiatrist or other mental health professional.

SAM-e: Taking sam-e orally can possibly improve the symptoms of depression. Several clinical studies show sam-e to be more effective than placebo, and at least as effective as tricyclic antidepressants, in trials up to 42 days. Some of these studies are limited by low #'s of patients, inconsistent diagnostic criteria, and short trial length.  Dose is 400-1600mg/day -- which can become expensive.

Yes: Bupropion, or wellbutrin, (bupropion) is primarily a norepiphrine antidepressant. It does not cause side effects typically associated with ssri antidepressants.
The try cyclic antidepressants, which were commonly prescribed in the seventies and eighties, affect multiple neurotransmitters in addition to serotonin.
The newer antidepressants, the snri's, affect both serotonin and norepinephrine.

WHY?: Why would you take anything that you don't know what it is, don't know what it's supposed to do for you, don't know how to judge if it's helping and don't know what harm it might do or how it could interact with your medication? Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or the internet. Stick with what your doctor prescribes and that only. It won't help you and could hurt you.
