Pain: A corneal tear or abrasion is very painful.  The cornea has many nerve endings and when scratched or torn can be very painful.  Corneal abrasions should be seen and treated as infections can develop that may lead to scarring and permanent vision loss.

Pain, redness,: Corneal ulcer is a growth of bacteria on the surface of the cornea, most commonly due to problems with contact lenses.  The eye gets red, painful, light sensitive,  with discharge and the vision is commonly affected.  If you have a magnifying mirror you can probably see a white spot on the cornea.  Remove the contact and see an ophthalmologist as soon as you can arrange.

Depends on Diagnosis: Sounds like you may have keratoconus or induced keratoconus from long time contact lens wear.  You must first make sure you don't have a superficial defect in the cornea.  Must see an ophthalmologist..

Most are fine: The basic mix in most tear replacement drops is similar.  There is enough difference that many will find one brand that they like the most.  Without preservative, there is less risk of toxicity or allergy to the preservative for those who need drops chronically.  If the cornea is swollen, that is more of a problem than tears alone can fix.  An ophthalmologist should be consulted in that case.

Swollen cornea?: There are no tear drops for a swollen cornea.  Hypertonic saline solution, 5% sodium chloride, is used to reduce swelling from corneal edema. This can also occur from inflammation. In that case you need to have the inflammation treated.   I suggest you go eye doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

See the eye MD: Not necessarily.  You do need to take the eye drops to help your cornea and eye heal, but the damage may already have been done once the chemical touched the eye.  Please take your drops as prescribed and follow up with your eye md.

i was prescribed oloflaxacin eye drops for a corneal tear. if i dont use them what happens to my eye?

Increases infection : The drops are being used prophylacticly to prevent infection, so not using them would increase the risk.
