Depends: It  is normal if u are in early labor, once you are in active labor it may mean the baby is too large for you and it is not putting pressure on the cervix to help dilate it, nature does not always work right but u should be discussing this with your OB u may need a -c-section which is better than forcing something that is not going to happen.

Cervix effaces/thins: The cervix is normally thick through most of pregnancy, and usually many uterine contractions and physiologic changes are required to thin it (especially prior to the first delivery). It is important, however, for women to record contractions and keep their obs informed because an examination of the cervix by a trained provider can best determine extent of dilatation of the cervix/onset of labor.

i'm 30weeks (hbr 7.23)yesterday i was contracting 4minutes apart also spotting i'm not dilating  contraction stopped with iv what could of caused this?

Early contractions: You don't really want to have contractions or labor at 30 weeks, but the uterus often starts toning up for the soon to happen labor and you can feel contractions (often called braxton hicks contractions). You also don't want your cervix to open. Mild temporary spotting is common; continued bleeding should be checked. If any symptoms continue that worry you, get checked.

Monitor: They will monitor you and the baby and then decide if you will need an induction procedure done.

why won't they induce me? 37w5d and in miserable back pain, contractions every 3-5 minutes for 3 days. dialating 1cm a day so far.

Too early : Inducing is only appropriate when the benefits of induction clearly outweigh the risks to the mom/baby.  I know it sounds cruel, but this is a pretty hard and fast rule.

FALSE LABOR: This is not true labor but false labor and that can happen.You just have to wait till contractions become more strong and more frequent and tru labor and cervix will dilate as well.Just have to wait and hang in there till it happens.

MFM evaluation : Babies can drop this early without risk of preterm birth, but a close follow-up with your OB, and perhaps a trip to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist is warranted. I would make sure you are checked at least once or twice weekly until 36 weeks, and thereafter per your OB. If your water breaks or your contractions become more frequent and painful, make the appt to see the OB, don't feel bad

Yes: The prostaglandins in semen cause contractions and can cause labor. Prostaglandins are used to induce labor. Anyone at risk for premature labor or premature delivery should avoid sex. Also avoid breast stimulation since that can cause contractions. Good luck

i am 25 weeks pregnateand have this burning sensation and extreme pressure in my vagina could i be dilating. i have been having irregular contractions?

Get checked.: At 25 weeks, you are very early and don't want to dilate. You probably aren't, but the only way to make sure is to go in and het checked. I would urge you to do this right away. It could just be a bladder infection, which is common in pregnancy, but it's not worth the risk of not checking.
