can you tell me if it's good to drink a diet tea that contains a laxative if i'm constipated?

"Cathartic colon": Laxative teas typically contain an "irritant" agent that can make your colon "floppy" &amp; result in dependency--the more irritant laxative you use the more dependent you become on it.  There is often a risk as well of melanosis coli--pigmenting of the colon lining. Examine your reasons for drinking this brew--stop it if just to lose weight; see a doctor if you have a real problem with constipation.

: Anything "tea-based" is such a weak brew (something that does not seem to occur to people who prefer "natural" remedies) that you'd probably have to drink many gallons of it to achieve an effective dose - assuming it works at all. So yes, you can go to MiraLax if you want to.

i take 10mg lexapro 1a day & 1mg klonopin 2 a day. because of this im starting to become constipated. is it safe for me to take a senna root laxative tea before bed? i take first dose of lexapro & klonopin @ 7:20am and 2nd dose klonopin @ 7:20 pm.

Yes: There is no reported interaction between senna and Lexapro nor klonopin.

what is the safest thing to drink to help with constipation. i have been suffering since july  (2017). it's painful and nothing helps. if i don't drink laxatives,i won't go to the toilet,its like i'm depending on these laxatives.

Diet: Make sure you drink plenty of water, have adequate fiber in your diet or supplements and consider probiotic supplements as well. Staying hydrated is the most important thing

No: Don't stop the laxative.  While you are taking the medication you will need the laxative.  You could get in trouble if the constipation gets severe.

The best: The best meds for constipation are cheap: proper diet and proper fluid intake. Eat a high fiber diet and you don't need fiber supplements. Drink 80 - 100 ounces of non alcoholic, non caffeniated fluids every day. You must break bad habits if you want any relief. There is no magic pill that can replace a helathy lifestyle!

Generally I am: Not in favor of chronic laxative use. A hi fiber diet along with 80-100 oz of caffeine free/alcohol free fluid per day usually corrects the problem. You are approaching the age for colon screening and if the above doesn't work for you after trying for 2 weeks minimum, you may be a candidate for a colonoscopy even at age 46 or at least an evaluation. Tlk with a colon and rectal surgeon or GI doctor.

Yes, but don't make: It a habit. Stay well hydrated (at least 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day). Try to get in 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day – get that fiber in. Stay physically active with regular exercise.  Take care.
