No: Don't stop the laxative. While you are taking the medication you will need the laxative. You could get in trouble if the constipation gets severe.

Talk to your doctor: Whether you should stop your medication depends on the severity of the problem the medication is treating, what other options might be available and how hard you have tried to take care of your constipation. Are you eating a good diet, drinking enough water? Have you tried an over the counter such as MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) (generic would be ok). Have you talked with your doctor about the constipation?
