First time for this?: It is said that olfactory hallucinations can sometimes be a manifesatation of a mass lesion in a place called the olfactory bulb or the olfactory groove region of the brain and that rubber burning is the commonly described smell related.  Therefore, if this is the first time this is happening it is a good idea to see not only your GP but also a neurologist since other things could be happening.

What : What you are describing is parosmia (perverted sense of smell) which can occur with certain types of drugs, post-influenza, and rarely in certain cases of temporal lobe injury of the brain. Smell disorders usually associated with post-menopausal women are hyposmia (impaired sense of smell). This very may well have a hormonal relationship since your history suggests a cyclical pattern to it correlating with your menstrual cycle. I would first querry your ob-gyn doctor about this and if unrelated you may want to see an ENT specialist for nasal endoscopic exam and consider MRI study of brain.

Smell: Wow. That can be very frustrating. The causes are too numerous to be just one thing and are commonly multi factorial. Disturbances in olfaction can result from pathologic processes at any level along the olfactory pathway. The most common causes are allergies, nasal trauma, sinus disease, viral infections, brain trauma or mass. Your history and physical is very important. Especially your history.

please help sneezed prob 70 times 2 days and my eyes burn head hurts. blew my nose probably 50 times. nose is burning. can't smell anything still been 4 days that normal? should i be scared? used neilmed/ tylenol cold /  emerg c ? what should i do

Sneezing: Get OTC flonase and use for at least ten days. OTC zyrtec. OTC antihistamine eye drops. See allergist.

my husband is never sick never complains about feeling bad. in the past two weeks he has had a constant headache , feels weak and aches. i am concerned. could this be from mesquitos?

Needs to see a docto: He apparently is sick and for his persistant symptoms he need to consult a doctor to find out the cause of his symptoms.If he was bit by mosquitoes and there is any mosquito carrying disease is reported where you live in, than it can be so
he need medical exam and treatment asap.

What is it like: Is it throbbing, aching, knawing?  always on the same side or varies?  start in neck, or front?  Have you had a CT scan or MRI?  Any history of head or neck injury?  Is the pain intensifying over time, or has it stayed fairly consistant?

Morning headaches : Morning headaches can be dangerous - most doctors would advise that you be seen so we can do a neurologic exam and hear more about them.  Numbness or weakness in your body would make this more serious.

There is one non-serious cause of morning headaches.  Do you grind your teeth in your sleep?  Is the headache in front of your ears and up the sides of your head?  Its TMJ syndrome.

Headache: Varied reasons for constant headache.  Tension or stress could cause constant headache.  Should try over the counter medication for headache initially.  Massage or acupuncture are very helpful.  Seek a physician's help if persists.
